Try Dr. Sears for an alternative, equally preachy but opposite, viewpoint. Better yet, just forget all the parenting books-- they're only there to make you feel guilty about one thing or another. My son napped only on laps and in the sling early on, but also changed to napping on his own at 8 months. One book I do recommend is Our Babies, Ourselves, but only because it has the message to listen to your instincts and that all those baby books that are so sure that what they recommend is the only way to raise a child say that because they're a product of their own specific culture. There are an infinite number of ways to raise children and for the most part they're not better or worse, just different. The baby whisperer is full of it. FWIW, I don't know if this will be reassuring or freaky, but MrD was also a nap-only-in-my-lap baby but changed happily to naps in the bed at 8 months. So...I really doubt Bianca will be insisting on lap naps for too much longer. (And since she's already sleeping so well otherwise, she'll probably change her ways earlier than MrD did.)
